Terada Torahiko's Tsunami and Human Beings

Dr. Terada Torahiko(寺田寅彦; 1878-1935), a physicist of Japan, once said that "Natural disasters and catastrophies will hit at a time when you forget them". In the 1896 Meiji Sanriku Tsunami, 1,859 people perished, while 911 people died in the Showa Sanriku Tsunami of 1933. Referring to these two tsumami, Dr. Terada already had pointed out that preparing for tsunami disaster was needed in Tsunami and Human Beings (1933).
